ONE

Dear Nash,
Today you are one.  Today you waved goodbye for first time ever to Dad as he went to work .  Yesterday you moved from holding onto the coffee table trunk and moved to hang onto me for the first time ever. Your first the day before that was scooting on your belly across June's room.  Just before that you starting pushing your way around on your bottom.  Last Saturday, you fell out of your stroller because all the sudden you can MOVE! Every day you are making up for the stagnant last 6 months or so of sitting.  You started taking little steps if we hold your arms.  Before I know it, you will be walking, talking, and graduating from high school.  Here are some of the things I love about you right now:
  • You eat a lot.  I am starting to see the boy in you with how much food you want.
  • You love me.  If I walk into a room without acknowledging you, you get pretty upset.
  • You are SO ticklish!
  • You are always happy- unless I'm trying to wean you (which I am), or I don't say hello (see above)
  • You let me sleep at night- most nights.
  • You are pretty easy to figure out.  "Hey I want a banana!" is:
    1. Wave your arms and fuss till I pick you up
    2. While I'm holding you, lean toward the kitchen until I start moving that way.
    3. Once in the kitchen, scan for where the bananas are and start holding your arms out toward them.
    4. I get a banana and take you to your seat to eat it.  Nash for the win.
  • You understand bath time, night night, eating, more, all done, sister/June, Mama, and Dada.  You don't sign anything, but I'm pretty sure you know what these words are a whole lot more.
  • You babble soooo loudly- like I-can't-hear-the-person-next-to-me-loud.
  • I think your favorite time of the day is taking a bath with June
This year has flown by, but at the same time, it seems like you've always been here. You've always been a part of this family, even if we didn't know you were coming.  You've made me pray more, laugh more, and love more.  Thank you, Nash.

Love,
Mommy

Sorry, you don't get 6 or 7 month pictures.  I try not to treat you like a second baby, but sometimes, it just happens.

Nash! It's your birthday today! I can't believe you are one year old, but here you are, scooting all over the place, trying to keep up with your big sister and get those BANANAS. I feel so lucky to have gotten to see you several times in the past six months, but I hate missing out on the day-to-day joy of seeing your little face. I guess that's what Facebook and your photo on the home screen of my phone are for! I love you sweet boy!

Wow,Nash, you are changing on a daily basis now! I am so grateful to have seen you four times over the past year. The contrasts from one trip to the next were subtle, but already in the past 2 weeks everything has changed! You are like your daddy in many ways. There's a lot brewing inside you, only to revealed when you are ready! Full of surprises and you bring much joy to our family. I am grateful that your were mostly stationary for the first year since your big sister is challenging to keep reigned in. You are a gift from God, my last grandchild, and only son of mommy and daddy. I love your smiles and laughter! I can't wait until I get to see you in July. I pray you will be able to let go of your addiction to your mommy for a little while so she can refresh herself for the second chapter of your amazing life! I love you more than the sun, the moon, the stars and beyond!

Now it's your turn to join in the fun, learning how to get around in this world and keep up with June and all your buddies.
